Some compiled tips on the house and combat segments of the game, intended for new players. Written originally for a friend on Discord. Credit to @xaviersonline_ on twitter for some of these.
House and NPC Tips
– Tracy will give you either Food Boxes, Blank Collars, or House Stat Idols when you level her up.
– Butch is a priority NPC imo. Storage space is important, especially when you have a lot of quest items.
– On the topic, make sure to ALWAYS filter your storage/trash first thing. I’ve lost good items to that!
– Give crappy kittens to Tink if you don’t like their stats. Tink is a low priority NPC, don’t worry about leveling him specifically.
– Frank is also a good pick for leveling. Try to get the attic and two rooms.
– Baby Jack is a decent NPC to level. His items reset on Sunday, so check the calendar in the top left to keep track of him.
– Organ Grinder (the guy with your own name) will take cats that both die on runs and die of natural causes or fights in your house.
– Dr. Beanies is the last NPC you’ll unlock for a while. Don’t worry about doing his quests right away, the quest items you get from doing House Bosses are more important.
Cat breeding guide:
– One room should be the Breeding Room. Make it have high Comfort (improves sex chance) and Stimulation (increases chance of high stats and abilities inherited from parents). Put your good cats, ones with high base stats, here.
– One room should be the Cat Storage room. Use it for cats that are neither good for breeding nor good for fighting. Your less desirable retired cats can go here also.
– One room should be your fight club, where cats go before they leave for runs. Maximize mutation and have lower comfort so your cats can fight. This could lead to cats getting improved stats just by hangin’ out there.
– Take strays in if they have multiple 6s or at least one 7. 7s are VERY important.
– Appeal applies to the whole house. Throw items that give it into the Cat Storage room.

Combat Tips
– Hunter, Tank, Cleric. The Big 3. Hunter can have both great damage and utility with either summoning or status effects, and tank/cleric are amazing support.
– Speed, Constitution, and your main damage stat (STR, INT, DEX) are priority upgrades.
– ALWAYS read enemy stats and abilities. Mouse over an enemy to see their movement and attack range, plus any special moves they can do.
– Hold CTRL for the Tac-map. It makes things easier to read by simplifying objects.
– Some abilities seem useless at first, but can prove to be very strong. Movement abilities and Collarless moves can be quite useful.
– Champions (larger and with increased health + a skull next to their name) can take two turns in one round. Kill ’em fast!
– After beating Boneyard and Caves once, Guillotina will be coming for your house. You can either send in a strong squad of cats who can dispatch her with a good surety OR you can send in a crappy cat to get ganked and reset her time between attacks on your house. This works for every house boss.
– Hard path will always have one extra fight, and therefore one extra level up. Take advantage of this if you’re confident your cats can handle it.
– Make sure you grab money, beat up trash bags/crates, and generally reposition on “idle” turns.
– Your cats can friendly fire AND shoot into empty tiles. Play with a slow and steady hand to avoid accidents. Sometimes, though, you do want to shoot at a friend or nothing. It depends on your abilities.
– Some abilities, like a certain class’s meat hook, attack on the diagonal. Make use of the checkerboard pattern subtly overlayed on the arena to line up the ability.
– The mage lowkey sucks.
