This game freezes for between 1-10 seconds every 3-10 minutes. It is intolerable.
Elden Ring still has a similar stutter problem and I doubt From Soft is going to fix anything soon.
This may not work for you, but I certainly hope it does.
If you’re still having trouble I am sorry. I wish the world was a better place.
How to fix the stutter/freezing
You may not need to do all of these steps to get it to work but I recommend them all.
I am running Windows 11 so if some of these steps aren’t familiar that may be why.
1. in Windows, open Settings and go to System > Display > Graphics (alternatively, you can search Windows for “Graphics settings” and it will take you to the same place)
2. Under the “Custom settings for applications” list Find ELDEN RING NIGHTREIGN. If it isn’t there, you will need to add it by clicking on “Add desktop app” and navigating to where you have Nightreign installed.
3. Clicking on the down arrow icon will display some options, ensure that GPU preference is set to High Performance and Optimizations for windowed games is set to On as shown below:
Ok, we are done here. You can close Settings now.
Now you need to open Nvidia Control Panel
1. In your system tray in the bottom right hand side, click the up arrow icon to show hidden icons.
2. Right click on NVIDIA Settings and then click on “NVIDIA Control Panel”
3. If it doesn’t open automatically to “Manage 3D settings” go ahead and click on that.
4. In the “Global Settings” tab you will need to scroll down to Vertical sync and ensure it is set to Use the 3D application setting.
5. Now go to the “Program Settings” tab, and select ELDEN RING NIGHTREIGN from the drop down menu. If it isn’t there, you may need to add it by pressing “Add”.
6. You need to make sure that Max Frame Rate is set to 60 FPS, and Vertical sync is set to On
7. Click on apply at the bottom, once the button disappears you can close the NVIDIA Control Panel.
Now you are done, open the game and test it out.
I hope this works for you, it solved all of the freezing issues I was having but reading online it seems that lots of people are still getting the trouble even with this fix applied.
