Ale & Tale Tavern: Useful Tips You Should Not Miss

The guide covers some important aspects of interacting with the game, both in terms of gameplay experience and technical details.

Useful Tips

1. Check the game settings. You might find some useful options there.

2. There is no automatic way to transfer save files from the prologue to the full game (since they are physically different applications). We recommend starting the full version from scratch. Also, the tutorial in the full game is slightly different from the one in the prologue. Just in case, we’ve provided an option for manually transferring save files from the prologue to the main game. To do this, you need to manually move the save files from the prologue folder to the full game folder. However, this will only transfer the previous furniture arrangement. We recommend not using this option to avoid any risk of bugs, errors, or a diminished gaming experience. To reiterate, we’ve made several changes to the start of the game. They are worth experiencing from the beginning.

3. If, for some rare reason, you experience significant CPU overheating, try enabling the FPS limit in the game settings (by default, it’s set to 60 FPS). Also, ensure that your computer’s cooling system is functioning properly.

4. If your internet connection is unstable or limited, minor non-critical issues may occur. However, to avoid problems, we recommend playing with a stable connection. At the very least, the host player should have a reliable and strong connection. Minor issues might also arise if players are connecting from the same IP address, for example, from the same Wi-Fi network. The game isn’t very demanding on connection quality, but traffic goes through Steam servers, so it’s best to have a high-quality connection. These are basic truths, but they’re worth mentioning.

5. If you encounter connection issues (even as the host), we recommend checking your firewall settings or other software. Our game only uses Steam servers, so the connection is safe and trustworthy. Ensure that the Steam app is added to your firewall exceptions.

6. You can play the game offline. Select the mode you need when launching the game.

7. The “simple dishwashing” feature is available in the game settings. You can toggle it on or off. Don’t forget about it to get the exact gameplay rhythm you want.

8. You can place dirty dishes on the dishwasher and wash them later, not necessarily right away. This helps manage your time and inventory space better.

9. At a certain level, the automatic dishwasher becomes available. If you want to automate the dishwashing process, buy it in the game.

10. If you want to add some real fun to your tavern’s atmosphere, buy a jukebox and listen to the songs. We won’t reveal all the secrets, but here’s a hint: the number of songs matches the number of story quests in the game.

11. To serve dishes to customers, you don’t need to have the dish selected in quick access. It’s enough just to have the dish in your inventory.

12. You can place all the dishes on the serving tables at once by approaching them and holding the action button.

13. Money is shared among all players in the party.

14. Quests are also shared among all players in the party.

15. If you’re playing with strangers instead of friends, you can enable the option to prevent furniture from being removed. Remember, some players might join just to mess around or ruin the game. We believe there aren’t many such people, but unfortunately, it’s possible. You can kick them from the server in the game menu. And don’t worry if such players bought many items and threw them somewhere you can’t find. After a few minutes, those items will automatically be sold, and the money will be returned to the account. Also, remember the backpacks on the wall in the tavern. If another player leaves the party or is kicked, their items will end up in one of those backpacks.

16. Experiment with ingredients to unlock the recipes for all available potions in the special cauldron. There are quite a few potions in the game!

17. Eat food and other items to restore health. Remember, some items may have interesting effects when consumed.

18. Press ENTER to access the text chat.

19. To see other players and the tavern on the map when you’re far away, enable the locator (default is T on the keyboard).

20. You can catch more than just fish.

21. The forest is much more dangerous at night.

22. There are many ways to earn money in the game, so don’t be afraid of going bankrupt. The game will never punish you for experimenting.

23. Don’t forget to change the dishes in the menu if they start earning little experience. The experience points that specific dishes provide recover over time if those dishes aren’t served. Experience points are needed to progress in the game, advance the storyline, and unlock new mechanics and areas.

24. The difficulty of the game automatically adjusts based on the number of players in the party. This affects experience gain as well as other aspects of the game (such as the number of hostile creatures). This helps to create a roughly equal balance for solo players and those playing with friends. Moreover, you can start playing solo and later continue with friends. We are confident that playing solo is not harder. It’s just a bit different, with a slightly different pace and focus. But it doesn’t become more difficult. We don’t want the game to have any insurmountable obstacles. The game, in general, doesn’t have a “right” or “wrong” approach. You can play however you like. The game encourages experimentation, and there are many ways to succeed.

25. You can change the number of dishes being prepared in the kitchen device by adjusting the number in the top right corner of the cooking window.
