Beholder: Conductor – How to Get the Good Ending with the Cat

Please don’t follow this guide if this is your first time playing this game. It’ll ruin your first experience. Come back to this guide when you have finished your playthrough and want to get the ending.
This was done on elite difficulty.

Standard opening until unlocking the food cart

Always peek in on passengers whenever you pass the compartments as they’ll often have more evidence to add

Lousia will get on.
Take gun as payment
Search stuff of Lousia
Buy and set up all compartments, compile her evidence
Time pauses during the tutorial section when setting up the rooms.

When Viktor gets on, check his ticket first then peek right away, usually you can get evidence

When you get the quest for a toy, compile all character evidence for money
Buy toy from Lousia

When Agatha and her kid get on, check ticket and immediately peek in for evidence

When the train is stopped and needs to be inspected, we’ll start our preparation

From the supplies store,buy
All lemonade
1 Newspaper
1 Comb
1 Chess set
1 Thimble and needle

From the Cook, buy everything from him

IMPORTANT
Keep the Newspaper, Comb, Chess set, Thimble and needle, 1 canned food, the thread you start with, and both bottles of vodka for quests later on.
If you want to keep yourself from selling them accidentally, toss them into the lost and found for safe keeping

Get cat, buy 3 cat food , bowls, cheap drugs, antidepressants, and 1 fish.
Sell everything else except those mentioned before
If you need the achievement ”love will tear us apart”, keep the gun
Otherwise, sell the gun as well.
If you keep the gun, just remember to sell it before the promotion
Give peter antidepressants if you want good ending for him

When the prisoner gets on, laws now come into effect

Blackmail Lousia for both drugs you found

If neither blackmail goes through, reload back to Helmer suburbs.
Hate that you need to rely on blackmail RNG but we don’t much of an option ATM
(Not exactly neccessary but takes a lot of pressure off later on as money gets tight at points)

Give food to policeman
Give the lunches and the cakes once Lousia gives it to you

Follow the quest into you find the door open
Let them go and try to talk the cops out of stopping the train
When the cooks asks who it helps, say Lousia and her husband

When you return, you’ll bump into the trainmaster who’ll give 1k AP
If you gave Peter the cheap drugs ( which I don’t suggest), he’ll be gone at this point.
You’ll lose this later on when he finds out about the cat so pretend it isn’t there.

Do the whole thing with shady guy Martin and stay silent for good ending
You’ll get a call saying to get 20k AP which won’t happen with keeping the cat so we’ll be doing the 15k cash route instead

At Ministerial, wait in the first room to take the first brother Pierre’s ticket
Wait until he leaves the room.

Search his ♥♥♥♥ and plant the cheap drugs on him by taking it out of your inventory and dragging it onto his stuff to record.
We’ll be using this to get him arrested in a bit.

Take Michelle’s ticket, her quest and take Stanish’s ticket
Don’t report any character evidence until the ministry quota quest pops up
Keep peeking in on passengers, eventually, you’ll catch Michelle whistling
Pierre will at some point stop ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ to smoke as well
At this point, feed the cat

When Stanish, the brother in room 3, leaves, search his stuff. He’ll have antidepressants.
At some point, likely when we hit Vresnik, he’ll ask for a newspaper, give it to him
Everyone in room 2 will leave while at Vrsenik so search their stuff.
Pierre will also ask for a snack, give him fish, right after peek in and he’ll usually drink
Record Michelle smoking and Martin writing, then smoking some time later.

When the train leaves Vresnik you’ll get a call for the quotas
Put in all character evidence. Report both brothers
Remember, keep peeking in before entering to try to catch evidence
You’ll find the bond parts in the lost and found, give em to Michelle

Peter will come by and give you the quest to get a litter box and cat toy if you gave him the antidepressants

Pulling into Komlo, buy the litter box and check Tobias’s ticket and peek in right after
He’ll have a lot of evidence to note down as he sticks around

Place litter box by talking to cat
At some point before leaving the station, the trainmaster will find out about the cat and take away 1k AP. This will start a countdown until you lose AP.
IMPORTANT
First time you’ll lose 2k AP IF you don’t mention that it is your cat
You’ll lose 5k later on from an event and possibly another 5k from the second timer
When you have around $1.8k, pay off the debt – not exactly necessary to do at this point but it’s better done early so you don’t forget later on.

Put in any character evidence you have at this point
Keep peeking and wait for the chance to check Tobias’s stuff
Feed cat when timer hits 18 hrs, don’t think it makes much of a difference but i like waiting to try to save cat food until needed.

Pulling into Cheshkovitse, buy a battery and let Lukasz stay for the 100 AP hit.
You’ll need him around for the cat later on

Keep peeping, it’s part of the job

At some point, everyone in room 4 will leave, check their stuff
When Lukasz asks for a chess set, give it to him and immediately check his stuff again to record it

At Trutnov, Rosa will arrive. Check her ticket and wait until she leaves to check her stuff.
She’ll have an apple on her.

Michelle will give a quest to take the heirloom away. Don’t arrest her right away, wait until Rosa gives a quest first then arrest her.

NOTE
It’s important that we get the heirloom from Rosa before it gets stolen by Gnevko.
I believe he steal the heirloom when Rubnichek but I could be wrong

Tobias will also ask for a battery, give it to him.
Rosa will ask for a romance novel which you’ll be able to buy once we hit Bludovets
When we hit Bludovets, buy the novel and give it to her.

Try to get one more piece of evidence from observing her then report her to get the heirloom in the lost and found and finish the quota quest and the heirloom quest.
Gnevko will ask for a needle at some point, give him the thimble and needle.

Spend free time peeking, not like we got anything better to do

Hitting Rubnichek, we’ll get Mikhal, a mysterious man who’ll give you hints through conversations for correct choices.
I suggest not reporting him but don’t be afraid to blackmail him later on.

Check the supplies for stuff that you can buy, I suggest buying and selling everything else except the white carnations for a later quest.

Mikhal will have his first dialogue soon, if you’ve played the game fully before, you’ll get what it means.

Search his stuff when he steps out

At Sebezh, you’ll run into the smuggler, Franz.
I recommend to keep the package instead of handing it over

Buy the cat toy and a thimble and needle. Give cat the toy
Search Gnevko’s stuff if you haven’t already. Forgot to bring it up but he’ll have drugs on him.
Search Franz’s stuff, he’s got a lot of contraband you can use to blackmail him later on
Compile evidence

The reason why I’m hesitant on blackmailing currently is because you need to blackmail 3 people and have a person arrested for a quest later on in first class.

When the train leaves Sebezh, Gnevko will ask to get players for a car game, invite Michelle, Franz and Peter, who is near the front of the first class train right past the cook.

The reason why Michelle needs to have the heirloom at this point is because if she doesn’t, Gnevko will kill her.

At some point during this, the cat will get sick. Go find the student who’ll say the cat needs expensive cat food to live

Also a note, at the 8th of September, fish will become illegal. At the next station with a trader, buy all the fish you can from the seller as it makes any blackmail with it profitable. You might also need it later on to get people from first class arrested.

At Znaymo, Tobias will ask for a coil. You’ll be able to buy one later

You’ll also see Henry Colt pass by. You can’t do much with him but he’s there
Remember to keep peeping for character evidence.

I also suggest blackmailing Gnevko and Mikhal if you catch him with music as Gnevko leaves after 3 stations and he doesn’t have anything else to offer.

Again, reload to Znaymo if neither one goes through. Still not sure if the blackmail part is necessary but better safe than sorry.

At Zhdyarets, buy 3 expensive cat food, all the fish, 1 cheap cat food for a later quest.

I also plant fish on Gnevko and try to get blackmail money from him. Not sure if it matters but worth a try. If it fails, get him arrested when we hit Uln

Check Yadviga’s ticket
Keep peeping for evidence.
Yadviga will ask for a comb, give it to her
Compile evidence

At Uln, Rachel will get on and the med student will get off
I also suggest blackmailing Bozhena for money

Check her ticket and she’ll give you a quest to give a letter Werner
Soon after the train departs, you’ll be able to search Yadviga’s stuff.

More peeping and evidence complaining
I now feed the cat when the timer hits 12 hrs
Rachel will also at some point ask for domestic meds, you can buy these later

At Gnesitse, you can buy domestic medicine.

NOTE
More importantly Ratmir gets on. He’s got a medal worth 2.5k for only 1k AP loss, a fair trade.
Rachel will get up at some point, give her the meds and check her stuff, she’s got contraband

Some people from first class will also drop by. Give them vodka for -1k AP but 2k cash.(worth)
Get the cops from the prison car to toss them out for 3k AP

More peeping and keep an eye on room 3 for the chance to take that medal.
Compile evidence

At this point, I only had two blackmails succeed so I have $12,285, 1 can of expensive cat food , and 15k AP.

On 10th of September, lightbulbs will become illegal. Check Tobias’s luggage to mark it when you get a chance.
Yet again, more peeping

At Tryavna, Yong Bae will get on.
He’s got a violin worth 900 bucks for -1k AP. I say it’s worth it to take

Talk to him after checking ticket for some lore
The old man will also have dialogue available at this point. You’ll find the answer to his question later down the line.

The gang in room 3 will leave at some point, check Ratmir’s stuff.
First record everything and report it then take the medal if possible

Tobias will also ask for stuff for his survival kit, a thread, sewing kit, lighter and canned food.
We got everything except the lighter.

At Razlog, the old man will have some more dialogue. I suggest listening to it.
Frieda will get on.
Sell the medal and buy a can of cat food.

At this point, Yong will leave his room, search his stuff, compile it, and take the violin

Check Frieda’s ticket and get vodka for her. Follow up with her questions. When she asks if you know nuclear physics, say yes and finish off the entire conversation chain.
Sell the violin.
Check Frieda’s stuff when possible.

At this point, I have $16k cash, enough for the promotion
When she returns to her room, peep right after to get evidence of drinking.
More peeping and evidence.
Bozhena will get off soon so I suggest reporting her at the next station but this is optional

Check in at Pribislav, this is when you’ll lose your first 2k AP for the order
You also get the chance to search Frieda.

After compiling evidence, I have $17,635 ,1 can of cat food, and 13,366 AP
1k of the cash was from successful blackmails and no reporting Bozhena.

So it is possible to get to this point without blackmail. Margins will be really tight however and you need to be on top of getting any evidence possible.
You can also just steal ♥♥♥♥ and use some of your authority to get some more cash.

If you didn’t blackmail anyone, you also JUST barely have enough to buy a second can of cat food ending up with 15135.

If you buy the coil and give it to Tobias now, you’ll be just above 15k.
This’ll get fixed in a bit with some peeping and a quest later on.
Peep and compile as normal
At some point, the old man will have more dialogue. Take it how you will.
Shortly after, Jack, your cat, will run off into the prison car.

At Vaclar, Bozhena gets off
Just more peeping and compiling if you find anything
Mikhal will have some more words for you.

At Oshats, you can buy a lighter to finish Tobias’s quest for 1k cash and 500 AP

At Egger, the 20k AP goal will run out and you will have to have 15k on hand to progress

You will get a call telling you to have 15k BUT also a quest to give out hot water and carnations to passengers for 1k cash and AP.
Ask the chef for hot water and he’ll give you extra.
After this quest, you can sell the excess carnations and water for some more cash.
I suggest buying out everything left in the supplies and chef stock and selling it.

At this point, I had $18,135 and 14,953 AP. without the 1k blackmail it would be $17,135. Enough to get cat food and the bribe.
Pay off the bribe
Back to peeping and compiling as normal

At Zlotriya
Sold everything left from the supplies and chef stock.
Buy a knife to plant later and a can of cat food
Still feeding cat at 12 hrs left on timer

At Brazsof, Yong Bae gets off
At this point, you probably have observed everything you can about your passengers.
Double check you compiled all evidence that you could.
Feel Free to fast forward until next station.

Nothing happens at Knezha
You’ll probably need to feed the cat at this point.

At Redding, fireworks happen.
You can also use this chance to steal stuff from passengers as most of them leave but I didn’t.
At this point, I’d blackmail Ratmir for war talk and drugs. He gets off next stations anyways
I was successful so I bought cat food here as well. But probably not needed
If it fails, just report him when he gets on the train.

Once the train leaves Redding, provided you succeed, Congrats! You are now first class.
If you gave Peter antidepressants, you’ll see him off. You can give him the cat here for the achievement “Let it go”.
You’ll have the opportunity to get the achievement “Ummagumma” for helping Michelle out.
In return she’ll “help” you out. Either way, that’s the end of her story.
You can refuse her advances if you wish, it changes a scene in the ending.

Onto checking people’s luggage, do this ASAP for Slavomir as he gets off at the next stop.

First up is Werner Berzins, check everything and plant/record the knife for cash.
Next is Slavomir who’s got a lot of contraband
I’d blackmail him for cash, Blackmail now also gives 2k cash when successful.
I only got 1 success but it was worth it.
Also bought cat food here, I had $2041 after buying it so you don’t even need to blackmail.

At Nikitich, the party boys from before, Michelle, and Peter leave.

Chantal and Darius get on. Check their tickets and head to the first class dining
Hand over the envelope, you’ll lose 1k AP for talking with Henry.
Now pick a side you want to support.
Doesn’t really matter, plant a fish and an apple on the person you want arrested.
You now need 3 reports for an arrest here in first class.
You can buy contraband from the bartender here to plant as well. Buy everything from him.

Darius will also leave at some point, check his stuff
You’ll also get a quest from Chantal to get slop from the chef. You can just ask him for it, free money and AP.

Plant Whiskey, vodka, wine, and tobacco on Henry for extra cash and AP when compiling.
Get slop from chef and give it to Chantal to get her out of the room to check her stuff.
You’ll likely have enough money to set up a room so do that
I planted tobacco, pie, vodka, wine, and whiskey on Chantal for extra.
I planted vodka, wine, and pie on Werner as well.
At this point, you’ll get a quest from Werner to blackmail people + arrest
I would blackmail Franz the smuggler and arrest Yadviga.
Doesn’t matter if they comply or not, you just have to send the letter.
At this point, you’ll have had either Henry or Werner arrested. Doesn’t matter, talk to who is left and report to the activist.

At Jessen, Grzegorz and Bekir will arrive

You’ll have enough money at this point as well to set up the last first class room
Your cat at this point will run into the first class dining hall.
You have two options here, either take the 5k AP hit OR let the lady take the cat.
If you take the AP hit, you’ll likely have to take another AP as the timer runs out.
If she takes the cat, she’ll kill it and make a meal out of it
You’ll be able to kill the lady later on when she asks for a deadly meal. You can get the rat poison needed for this from the seller or the chef if you didn’t sell it.

Check their tickets, their stuff, and plant some things on them to record.
Keep a bottle of wine on you for a later quest.
I would also plant contraband on Grzegorz when you search his stuff as his quest ask for you to arrest him.
Plant soda, fish and an apple.
More peeping and compiling.

At Charkovets, Francis will arrive and blow you off
He’ll put his stuff in room 4 so check it.
Sell off the lemonade you bought and buy cat food. You’ll have quite a bit of cash so it should be fine.

At kamsk
Chantal will give you the quest for dangerous food here if you have the cat with you.
You need cat food, fish ,sleeping pills, wine, and caviar.
You need rat poison if you are going to kill her.
You can buy both sleeping pills and caviar from the seller later on.

Nothing at Svedlov

At Ostrovets
Chantal will give you the quest for dangerous food here if you gave her the cat instead.

At Fuesten, Elif gets on.
Check ticket, peep and check luggage.
She and Bekir are part of a quest added by the recent update.

Henry Colt will also get murdered sometime
You’ll lose 3k AP from Francis blaming you and you’ll get searched. This is why you ditched the gun.
Head to room 1 and look for the honorary gun in Werner’s luggage.
Take it and head back. Point out the initials.

DO NOT SELL THE GUN, KEEP IT

After the murder, Mikhal will offer some advice. Keep it in mind later on.

At Pients you can buy caviar and sleeping pills
Give ’em to the cook and present it to her. Pour wine or rat juice over it.
If you poisoned her, she’ll die and be gone.
Keep around 10k at hand, you’ll need it later on

Once you finish the quest, the phone will ring and you’ll get a call telling you to delay Bekir and Elif. Doesn’t change anything in the ending but I warned them.

Nothing happens at Drassl

At Agloe, Mikhal will have more dialogue and ask about your son.
If you warned Bekir and Elif, they’ll get off here.

Francis will also perform and let you finish the mission to get info about the ambassador
Follow the story.
You’ll also be able to return the package to Franz for some money and info about your family
At this point, the train will be shot at and you’ll get a phone call asking if the two are still on board.
I chose to lie here and say they are. You lose 5k AP for lying

Talking with Franz, you’ll get the vip key
Do the standard story stuff.
Talk with Francis then with Bart then with Francis again.
He’ll perform, drawing out Eva and Josef.
Check both of their rooms and compile them

Francis will ask for a record and a waitress will ask for panties and perfume, both of which are in Josef’s room for a massive 20k AP cost.
The Record is in Francis’ room.

Mikhal will also offer some more advice
Give panties and perfume for some cash. If you have AP to spare, you can ask about her past. Same with Francis once he asks you to get the record.
Tell Bart about Eva and Josef. Take the letter and search for the weapon.
Replace it with the one you found during the whole murder scene.
Talk to Eva as well to find out the goals.
Do a waiter quest for some AP and call your son.

All that is left now is to wait

At Monceau, Franz will get off.

At Arnieo, the final quest will be completed.
Watch the whole scene play out

Run into the locomotive cart and click on the fuse
turn the trainmaster key to the right.
Then run into the upstairs room and grab the second letter in the drawer.

CONGRATS, you have beaten Beholder Conductor with the cat in tow!
