Half Sword: Performance Config Guide for Early Access

For performance issues in the latest EA release, this is an easy work around to gain more FPS in game.

Navigate to %LOCALAPPDATA%/HalfSwordUE5/Saved/Config/Windows/

Create a file named engine.ini

Paste these settings in that text file:

[SystemSettings]
foliage.LODDistanceScale=0
grass.Enable=0
r.AOQuality=0
r.BlurGBuffer=0
r.DefaultFeature.AntiAliasing=0
r.DefaultFeature.Bloom=0
r.DepthOfFieldQuality=0
r.DOF.Recombine.Quality=0
r.DOF.TemporalAAQuality=0
r.DynamicGlobalIlluminationMethod=0
r.FastBlurThreshold=0
r.Fog=0
r.FullScreenMode=0
r.LensFlareQuality=0
r.MaxAnisotropy=1
r.MipMapLODBias=0
r.MotionBlur.Max=0
r.MotionBlurQuality=0
r.ParticleLightQuality=0
r.SceneColorFringe.Max=0
r.SceneColorFringeQuality=0
r.SubsurfaceScattering=0
r.TemporalAACurrentFrameWeight=0
r.Tonemapper.GrainQuantization=0
r.Tonemapper.Quality=0
r.VT.MaxAnisotropy=1
r.PostProcessAAQuality=0

[/script/engine.renderersettings]
r.Upscale.Quality=0

[ConsoleVariables]
r.ScreenPercentage=100

[/script/engine.inputsettings]
bEnableMouseSmoothing=False

You can adjust r.ScreenPercentage to be a lower value to finetune your resolution quality and get even better performance at cost of image quality.

SET YOUR ENGINE.INI FILE TO READ-ONLY SO IT DOES NOT GET DELETED.

This lowers graphics to an even more playable performance friendly amount than what native settings allow. Can be edited to your liking.
It easily boosted my fps 20-30 points.

if your Engine.ini file gets deleted each time you close the game:

right-click your Engine.ini file in your file explorer
click “Properties”
enable the “Read-only” checkbox
click “OK”
