This guide requires no save file editing however, you may have to leave a desired mod disabled.
If your screen is flooded with endless notifications awarding you multiple copies of the same housing decorations every time you change zones or your game crashes after placing multiple exclusive housing items and entering your apartment (URe error “Assertion failed: InNumInstances <= NumInstancesAllocated”) then your save is caught in a mod conflict.
This issue is usually caused by a hardcoded bug inside specific mod files (such as the Battle Chasers mod asset bundle) utilizing a “bModdedGiveOnLoad: true” flag. It overrides your save file logic (not the actual save data) and spams your inventory (adding false inventory not in your own save file).
These instructions allow a safe purge of the false data and restores access to your housing (will kill any instance of offending item).
Step 1: Strip Your Active Characters (Safety Check)
- Log into the game world.
- Unequip any character skins, weapon cosmetics, or mounts associated with the mod branch.
- Revert to standard (none) base-game equipment and/or skins.
- Make a minor character change (like a character badge change).
- Exit to main menu in a public zone like Skylight.
- Exit the game completely.
Step 2: Uninstall the Culprit Mod
- Log into Wayfinder.
- Select your progress/save slot.
- Open the mods menu and unsubscribe from the offending mod (e.g., the Battle Chasers mod framework).
- Do not delete or clear your progress/save slot.
> If you log in at this point you will get the same issues but using placeholder/missing icons. - Log back out of the game allowing it to sync.
Step 3: Purge the Local Engine Cache
Wiping these caches forces the engine to evaluate your account inventory configuration from a blank slate.
- Press Windows Key + R or open File Explorer.
- Type %localappdata%, and hit Enter.
- Open the Wayfinder folder, then navigate into the “Saved” directory.
- Completely delete the “Config” and “Crashes” folders.
Step 4: Varify Steam Files (just to be sure)
- Game Properties.
- Installed Files.
- Verify integrity of game files.
Step 5: Check in Wayfinder
- Log in to Wayfinder.
- You should already notice the lack of reward notification.
- Enter your apartment.
- Go to where you placed the duplicate items, they should be missing.
