Minecraft: Story Mode – How To Import Local Save From Season 1 to Season 2

Now Telltale is bankrupted, it is no longer possible to import save from season 1 online. This guide will show you two ways to import the save from your previous playthrough.

You, you are the real hero.

To all of you who bought the story mode before it delisted. I consider it the best MC spin-off. You are one of the few gigachads who supported Telltale for what it’s worth. And to those who somehow bought the game after it’s removal, you are very based too.

Before you start, please remove all saves from your season 2 game.

First Method – Renaming

Check the folder under the address “C:\Users\(your PC name)\Documents\Telltale Games”
There should be two folders that contains the saves from Season 1 and Season 2. The former should have a name “Minecraft Story Mode” and the latter is “Minecraft Story Mode – Season Two”. If the folder’s name is not like these, rename them according to what’s shown in the picture.

Results from google indicate that some people found their folder name to be “Minecraft – Story Mode” or something. Just change their name so it may be able to detect your local save next time you start the new episode.

Second Method – File Transporting

As for me, the first method didn’t work out.
Now go into the season one folder, copy all the files that have “saveslot” in their names. Such as the one called “_saveslot1_autosave.bundle”.

And paste them to your season two folder. Note that it should detect the last save you played in season 1 and automatically import that one. You may not be able to select which save you wanna import. If you do, just copy paste the desired saveslot file to season 2.

And if it still doesn’t detect anything, just copy every file from season 1 folder into your season 2 folder.

How To Detect Save

Click the “Episode” in the game’s main menu, and it should detect local save instead of asking you to create your own previous story. If you’re asking whether if you can still import saves from Telltale account, no you can’t. The server is down and you won’t be able to login to your account anytime soon (or ever).
