How to unlock all characters and get all achievements.
Unlocking All Characters
Below are the unlock conditions for every character with some tips and tricks to try and make things easier for you. Ready to beat the game on Difficulty 4? I sure hope so!
You should be able to handle this much, right? It’s basically the tutorial.
Okay, so you couldn’t handle it… but you unlocked another character anyway!
Now the real game begins.
Don’t get discouraged, my sweet little angel. Even when you lose, you win!
Having trouble yet? Difficulty 3 is no joke! Don’t be afraid to spend Recon re-rolling tiles so you can block off entrances early on. Try to force creeps into coming towards your base from one direction so they’re easier to focus down. You’ll learn how to place buildings more strategically just by playing more, so don’t give up!
You got this one trying to beat Difficulty 4, didn’t you? (Don’t worry, I did too…)
This is the reason you looked up this guide, isn’t it? I won’t sugar coat it: Difficulty 4 is tough as nails. There’s a lot of RNG involved in getting a good run, but you can give yourself a strong foundation by playing one of the Iron Dragoons (I used Colonel Astor, Sergeant Gurtag is even better if you have him) and focusing on powering up your base. Spend your first turn’s Supply on upgrading your base’s weapons with Corner Strongpoints and Barrage LMG Positions. This can get you through the first few waves without even putting down any buildings. Put a couple Miradors adjacent to it and get their Close Support upgrades as soon as possible. The rest will come down to strategy and luck. Just keep trying! You’ll get it eventually. And don’t worry, this is the hardest character to unlock, so after this it’s smooth sailing to 100% achievements!
You can do these on any difficulty.
Playing Colonel Astor gives you +150% HP to your base. You can also increase it by choosing doctrines that increase your base’s HP and putting Miradors adjacent to it and choosing the Close Support upgrade that increases HP by +30%.
You should be able to achieve this using the same strategy above. Just keep beefing up your base so enemies can damage it without risking a game over, and healing off the damage. Alternatively, you can play as Architechtus Droh if you already unlocked him (gives all buildings +50% HP) and choose the Repair Drones upgrade for your base (gives another +50% HP and +40% HP Recovery).
Just play as Warden Gerhard and you can get this one easily in your first game.
Use cheap buildings like Sturdy Bunkers, Miradors, and Light Mortar Positions.
You’ll get this pretty early just by playing normally.
Play as Colonel Eleonor (makes higher tier blueprints appear) to get a better chance of getting Howitzers.
Same strategy as above.
They’re more useful than you think! (Look, just do it… for Vladask…)
Choose doctrines that increase Supply production and put buildings adjacent to neutral buildings that increase Supply production. Zone Commands and Division Relays can also increase it.
You’ll get this eventually just by playing. Key word being “eventually…”
I sure hope you’re declaring your taxes on all these supplies, my sweet little tax evading angel…
Playing anyone in the Paragon Assault Group will start you off with 20 Recon production. You can increase it in the same way you increased Supply production above.
Playing Major Delcia will give you 35 Recon production to start with. You can easily hit 15 re-rolls with that kind of cash money (Recon is not cash or money despite also being green).
Rick Astley would be proud!
Increasing your Discovery improves your chances of spawning a neutral building when placing a tile.
Let’s be honest, you probably already have this one.
These pop up often enough that you can easily reach this number if you prioritize them over blueprints.
Just play anyone from the Pargan Assault Group and fully upgrade your base (takes up 5 Tech). Then build anything that uses Tech in its upgrades, like Puma Positions.
The only good bug is a dead bug.
Your reward for genociding a hundred thousand alien lifeforms is a pink-haired Russian tittymonster. I love this game.
Now that you’ve unlocked all the characters, all that’s left to do is win an expedition with each of them. So crank the difficulty back down to Very Normal and have a fun time, my sweet little doe-eyed angel. You’ve earned it.
