I wanted to get a quick simplified guide to help people gear up instead of looking for several different resources. Talent, Skill Trees, or other items are not covered in this guide.
Refinement and Embedding are why the 4 preferred Life Skills are: Gemology, Mineralogy, Gemcrafting, and Smelting.
Getting Epic Gear
TLDR: Do Unstable Space, run Chaotic Realms, and early World Bosses. Dismantle Gear for Alloy Shards to buy level 40 epics.
- Epic Gear can be obtained in most activities in the game, such as Unstable Space, Chaotic Realms (Goblin Lair, Tina’s Mindrealm, etc), early stage World Bosses (Drops, do not need daily keys to obtain), or Alloy Shards.
- Alloy Shards can be obtained by dismantling Epics or unwanted Legendary gear, Honor Coins (not recommended to buy, unless just recently started), or higher level World Bosses. The gear available from Alloy Shards is item level 40.
Getting Legendary Gear
TLDR: Kill World Bosses, run Chaotic Realms on Hard. Check Drops content for target drops.
- Legendary gear drops from World Bosses (Drops, do not need daily keys to obtain), Hard Chaotic Realms (Goblin Lair, Tina’s Mindrealm, etc), or Normal/Hard Chaotic Realm Bane Lords (RARE appearance).
- Check the Drops table to know what the World Boss or Chaotic Realms drop, they drop select gear pieces. For Example, Phantom Arachnocrab has a chance to drop a Weapon, Helmet, Amulet, or a Selection Chest for either Helmet or Amulet. However, Brigand Leader drops Weapon, Chest Piece, Ring, or the Selection Chest.
Reforging
TLDR: Reforge your gear you’re using. When you find a good replacement item, dismantle your old piece and reforge the new. If the replacement item is 60 in the future, you won’t be able to use 40’s. Make sure you have the appropriate mats to benefit from the upgrade. There may be a conversion option.
- Reforging is how you increase gear’s Perfection, which increases the stats on gear. You will also unlock a 3rd Advanced Attributes which is randomly rerolled each time you reforge. When you do reforge gear, you can always dismantle the item to get back your Reforging Stones.
- There will be 3 tiers of Reforging Stones, Level 40, 60, and 80.
- If you find a better piece of Gear with implicit Advanced Attributes, you can dismantle your old item and reforge the replacement item. If the item is 60 in the future, you won’t be able to use 40’s. Make sure you have the appropriate mats to benefit from the upgrade. There may be a conversion option.
- Between Epics and Legendaries, they provide near same stats, but have a perfection score up to 100, instead of Epic’s 80 (more states). Do not stress too much for legendary gear.
Refinement
TLDR: Refine your gear slots when able and spread it out to get the most out of currently available resources. These are permanent buffs to your character.
- Refining is a permanent stat bonus to your character, based on the gear slot. As in-game statement, “Note: When replacing gear of the same part, refinement will automatically transferred.”
- Refine your equipment slots for overall bonuses and additional Ability Score. This is time gated currently, so it’s recommended to balance out the Starforge crystals.
- You can get Starforge Crystals from Unstable Space Dailies (x2), Mystery Store (Esc > Store > Mystery Store), and Honor Coins (Esc > Store > Colorful Store > Honor Coin tab)
- Mystery Metal, Radiant Stone, and Fine Forgestones can be crafted from Life Skilling (Mineralogy → Smelting), Guild Store (random of the 3 mats, 80 boxes, 960 tokens total), or purchasing from the Auction House with unbound Luno (obtained from Guild Cargo Dailies).
Embedding
- Embedding allows you to slot addition stats into gear. These include a main sub and a primary stat.
- Ruby: Crit
- Sapphire: Haste
- Emerald: Mastery
- Topaz (Diamond): Luck
- You can obtain embedding gems from Life Skills (Gemology → Gemcrafting), or Auction House with unbound Luno.
