Core Keeper: Automated Salvaging Guide

Setup for automated salvaging

Setup

Above is my setup for automated salvaging.

Components

  • Shredder
  • Logic Circuit
  • Delay Circuit
  • (Lowered) Electricity Generator
  • Robot Arm x2
  • Delay Circuit x18
  • Extra Circuits as needed

The Idea
The idea is that we only want the first/right Robot Arm to be active when the Shredder is empty. I don’t know the exact timing, but I found that the Shredder salvages items in roughly 18s. So we want the Robot Arm to only be active every 18s lest it dumps the items on the ground. Thus, I utilized 18 Delay Circuits to send a signal in a loop. This gives us a 1s signal every 18s period.
The Shredder has to be powered all the time. Since it transmits electricity to adjacent tiles, we have to use another Robot Arm to keep a gap between the Shredder and the pulse setup.

Priming
The setup needs to be primed first by feeding the Logic Circuit a signal. I used a lever (highlighted on the left) to do this. Feed a signal until the first delay circuit lights up and remove the signal. In my case, I turned the lever off.

That’s it! Simple and Easy!
I used a chest in my setup but you can connect this to whatever inventory system you have to salvage unwanted gear.
