Before leaving the Dark Room, make sure that:
– you have obtained and equipped the S-0 patch in your inventory
– you have read the contract (or haven’t read it — the main thing is to remember it)
– you have saved your progress (very important!)
– optionally, after obtaining the patch, you spoke with S-476 again and received some additional supplies.

Step 2. Passing the reception room
This is the only room in the entire game that contains a story-based soft lock (and the only one with one possible path). That’s why it was important to save your game in the previous room. So, here’s some steps to follow:
– Make sure you’ve equipped the patch
– Reduce your stress to 39 using cigarettes/alcohol (you can search the corpses or use what S-476 gave you).
– Next, interact with the door. The receptionist will speak to you, and you’ll have the option to start a dialogue with her.
– If all preparations were done correctly, there will be no further issues. The receptionist will accept your fake number and ask if you’ve read the contract. It’s important to tell the truth here. If you’ve read it, say yes; if not, say no.
– Next, she’ll ask how many fingers you see. She’ll show 7 fingers herself (ew). The most careful will notice that she hides her other hand behind her back. The point of this riddle is not to name the number of fingers she’s showing, but the total number of fingers you see in the entire room. So the correct answer is 10.
– Done. You’ve passed the test.
