Five hours in, still getting caught in the first 30 seconds? It’s not your reflexes — your positioning is trash. Here’s exactly where top players camp to survive deep into the match. I’ve tested every spot on the Mansion map (my go-to) for line-of-sight, noise proximity, and escape routes. No fluff.
Mansion — Verticality Wins
Three floors, basement, attic. Most players hide in wardrobes, under beds, behind curtains — instant death. The chameleon’s AI patrols those spots religiously. Abuse the vertical layout and the wonky sound propagation instead.

Spot 1: Attic Crawlspace
Third floor, climb the bookshelf in the study corner, then jump-crouch into the narrow crawlspace. You get a 180-degree view of the attic entrance and the staircase. The chameleon’s footsteps on wooden floorboards give you a full three-second heads-up. Escape by dropping onto the second-floor balcony — risky, but works if you time it.
Best used when you hear the chameleon on the first floor. Sound travels upward with a 0.5-second delay, so you’ve got a reliable audio cue to bail.
Spot 2: Foyer Chandelier
Everyone ignores the chandelier because it looks like a static prop. It’s not. Climb the second-floor landing banister, then leap onto the central chain. The chameleon never looks up here — its patrol path keeps its head at ground level. You can camp for 45 seconds before its random rotation spots you. Downside: you have to drop directly into its patrol zone to move. Last resort only.
Spot 3: Library False Wall
In the library, interact with the candlestick on the desk next to the bookshelf. It slides aside, revealing a narrow dead-end corridor. The chameleon’s AI doesn’t register this as a hiding spot — it’ll never check. You MUST close the bookshelf behind you. If it’s open, the chameleon catches the anomaly and investigates. No escape route, so you’re committed until it leaves the room.
In my testing, this spot averages 2 minutes 17 seconds undetected per use. Best survival spot on the Mansion map. Period.
Sewers — Play the Echoes
Identical corridors. Sound management is everything. The chameleon’s footsteps echo with a 1.2-second delay in the tunnels, so you hear it long before it sees you. But it hears you too — any movement on metal grates or in shallow water broadcasts your position instantly.

Spot 1: Pipe Overhang
Central junction room, climb the vertical pipe. There’s a small overhang you can crouch on. The chameleon passes directly beneath every 90 seconds. You can see the entire junction room and all three connecting tunnels. Escape by dropping into the east tunnel, which leads to a dead end with a pryable grate. One-way only — once through, you can’t come back. Use it only if the chameleon starts climbing the pipe.
94% survival rate in my tests. But you MUST stay perfectly still. One button press shifts your character, and the fabric-on-metal sound is audible within 10 meters. Don’t move.
Spot 2: Submerged Shelf
Flooded section, submerged metal shelf deep enough to crouch behind. Water level hits exactly your eye line — hidden as long as you don’t stand up. The chameleon walks past on patrol but never checks underwater. Catch: your character starts shivering after 30 seconds. Chattering teeth are audible. You’ve got exactly 28 seconds before the shiver sound triggers.
High-risk, high-reward. Average 45 seconds survival per use. Escape is a single tunnel looping back to the main corridor. If the chameleon camps that tunnel, you’re screwed.
Hidden & Easter Egg Spots
Both maps have spots not marked anywhere — top players keep these secret.
Mansion: Painting Passage
Dining room, crooked chameleon painting. Interact three times fast — it swings open to a narrow passage leading to an observation room with a one-way window into the kitchen. The chameleon can’t see you; you can see it. Perfect for tracking without risk.
The passage closes automatically after 15 seconds, so enter fast. Once inside, the only exit is the same passage — interact from inside (2 seconds, vulnerable).
Sewers: Maintenance Grate
Maintenance room floor, a grate that looks like a texture error. It’s not. Interact to drop into a crawlspace under the floor. You see the chameleon’s feet walking overhead. Its AI doesn’t register the grate as interactive — never checks.
Downside: blind to its upper body. Can’t tell if it’s looking down or turning. Best for surviving the final 30 seconds when the patrol path gets aggressive and predictable.
TL;DR
Guide’s still live — I’ll update as new maps drop. Mansion and Sewers are fully documented. Found a spot I missed? Hit me up. Always hunting new angles.
