The Forest of Temptation is one of the earliest real obstacles in Tales of Eternia Remastered, and it has a reputation for driving players up the wall. I’m putting together the maps and the underlying objective here so you can stop wandering in circles and get out with your supplies intact. If you’re stuck in this stretch and tired of burning healing items on dead-end paths, this walkthrough is for you.
I wrote this up because the forest punished me for going in blind — the floating Grim Reaper enemies drain your health while you’re trying to navigate, and every wrong turn costs you. Having a clear map in front of you changes the whole experience, and that’s exactly what I want to hand you here.
What You Actually Need to Do
Before you look at any map, understand that this mini-dungeon asks two things of you at once, and you need to finish both to leave:
- Find the special Deity statues and rotate them in the correct direction to open the path forward.
- Defeat 5 Junglers to open the exit.
All of this happens while you dodge the floating Grim Reaper enemies that siphon your health. That combination is what makes the forest so draining — long treks through it eat into your supplies fast, so a reliable map goes a long way.
Here’s the detail that saved me a lot of grief: you only need to rotate one statue, the Deity of Creation. The others are already facing the direction they need to be. If you’re like me, you’ll probably second-guess this and start fiddling with every statue you see before realizing the rest were fine all along.
This section can genuinely get irritating. If the encounters are grinding you down, you can turn them off to reduce the hassle — otherwise, follow the maps below as precisely as you can.
Forest of Temptation Maps
Rather than send you hunting across the internet, I’ve collected a couple of maps from different sources so you have them in one place. Credit goes to the original creators.
First is a simple, clean map from GameFAQs by user ibmG, uploaded on 10/14/2001. It’s straightforward and gets the job done for the basic layout.
Next is a more detailed map taken from the Tales of Destiny II Prima Strategy Guide. If you want more granular routing, this one has you covered.
Whichever you use, keep the objective in mind — open the path via the Deity of Creation and clear out all 5 Junglers on your way through. If you’re still finding your footing with the game’s systems, my skills guide is a solid companion read while you work through these early dungeons.
Conclusion
That’s the forest sorted. With the right map and the statue hint in your back pocket, this stop turns from a headache into a quick in-and-out. Hope these helped you the way they helped me.
