If you’re here, you’re probably trying to push your party’s damage output higher by unlocking new and stronger skills — and you’ve come to the right place. This guide walks through the skill lists for Reid, Farah, Chat, and Max, including what each skill does, what it costs in TP, and exactly what prerequisites you need to clear before it becomes available.
I put this together because the unlock conditions in this game are scattered and easy to lose track of. Reid and Farah in particular gate their skills behind a mix of hidden proficiency levels and repeated uses of earlier Artes, so having everything in one place saves a lot of guessing. I’ve kept every number and requirement exactly as it appears, so you can plan your grind instead of stumbling into it.
How Reid Learns Skills
Reid builds his special and sacred skills by raising his hidden slash and thrust levels through weapon use, then pairing that with a set number of uses for the prerequisite Artes. The proficiency thresholds are the quiet gatekeeper here — you won’t see them ticking up, so if a skill refuses to appear even after you’ve spammed its prerequisite, your slash or thrust level is almost certainly the thing holding you back.

Reid’s Extensions
These are a different beast — they aren’t learned through use counts at all. You trigger them by pressing the original skill’s button at a very specific moment mid-animation. Get the timing wrong and nothing happens, so treat these as execution checks rather than grind targets.
| Name | TP | Description | Prerequisite | Activation | Element |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Dragon Demon Chaos | 10 | Extra slashes added to Omega Demon Chaos | Omega Demon Chaos 90 times | Press this original skill’s button just as the last strike of Omega Demon Chaos lands | — |
| Burning Phoenix | 50 | More powerful Rising Phoenix | Rising Phoenix 90 times | Press this original skill’s button just as Reid plows through the enemy in Phoenix form | Fire |
| Quasi Seal | 24 | Even the original guide author couldn’t explain what happens here | Omega Seal 50 times | When Reid is about to strike | — |
Farah’s Attacks
Farah works much like Reid, except she raises punch and kick proficiencies instead of slash and thrust, and spams specific moves to open up her martial arts. Same hidden-stat trap applies: if the use count is done but the skill still won’t appear, check your punch or kick level.
| Name | TP | Description | Punch/Kick Level | Other Prerequisite | Element |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Palm Strike | 4 | Punches forwards quickly | 2/1 | — | — |
| Triple Blossom | 6 | Three kicks at the enemy | 1/2 | — | — |
| Sonic Fist | 8 | Four-hit punching volley | 5/2 | — | — |
| Swallow Dance | 7 | Jumps into the air and spins around while kicking | 4/5 | — | — |
| Eagle Dive | 8 | Jumps above the enemy then kicks downwards | 4/8 | — | — |
| Rising Dragon Strike | 12 | Punches upwards once, then charges and punches again with greater force | 8/4 | Sonic Fist 30 times; Palm Strike 10 times | — |
| Death Blossom | 12 | Jumps towards the enemy with a four-strike volley of kicks | 11/12 | Triple Blossom 80 times; Eagle Dive 30 times | — |
| Twin Palm Strike | 12 | Much more powerful version of Palm Strike | 10/8 | Palm Strike 60 times; Rising Dragon Strike 30 times | — |
| Mirage | 10 | Farah phases through the enemy to appear behind them | 15/15 | — | — |

| Chi | 20 | Charges a super-powerful punch | 22/14 | Super Sonic Fist 160 times; Twin Palm Strike 100 times | Fire (?) |
Farah’s Extra Skills
These ones aren’t proficiency-locked at all — they’re tied to story locations, so keep an eye out for them as you move through the world.

While the screen is still black, run to your opponent and punch it two times. Then perform a rising skill and link it with a diving skill. If the enemy is still alive, Flame Dance will be used | Fire |
Chat’s Skills
Chat is refreshingly straightforward compared to the other two — she learns new combat tools by visiting specific locations on the map rather than grinding use counts. Two of her skills are available from the start, and the rest you’ll pick up by traveling.
| Name | TP | Description | Effect | How to Earn |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Pow Hammer | 12 | Throws a bunch of hammers towards the enemy | Stunning Hammers | Starting skill |
| Rover Tool | 15 | Chat runs up to the enemy and steals an item on impact | Steals items from the enemy | Starting skill |
| Toss Hammer | 16 | Throws a bunch of hammers towards the enemy | Poison Hammers | Small, roughly moon-shaped island far southwest of Tinnsia (183, 130) |

| Para Ball | 16 | Throws a yellow ball towards the enemy | Chance of instant KO | Go to the Craymel Hot Springs and take a bath |
| Eternal Hammer | 60 | A storm rages as Chat throws a lot of hammers at the enemy | Massive damage | Aifread’s Cavern side quest |
Max’s Skills
Max picks up his robotic and pirate skills by finding Pink Miacis scattered around the game world. His final skill only unlocks once you’ve collected every other one first, so expect to do a full sweep if you want the complete set.
| Name | Description | TP | Element | Location of Pink Miacis |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Burning Force | Blast of fire shoots forwards. Controllable using the directional pad. | 20 | Fire | Starting skill |
| Rage Laser | Fires a continuous burst of Light energy at the foe | 34 | Light | Cape Fortress, outside |
| Dark Laser | Creates a Black-Hole-like area around Max that damages everything near him | 40 | Shadow | Luishka, ruined house |
| Air Blade | Blast of air shoots through all enemies | 24 | Air | Peruti, docks |
| Aqua Spiral | Fires a giant water projectile that explodes on contact | 28 | Water | Tinnsia |
| Elemental Master | Shoots a blast of every element one after another | 72 | All | Obtained after getting all other skills |
Using Boosts to Ease the Grind
Some of Reid’s and Farah’s skills require a certain level of proficiency in their stats — Slash, Stab, Punch, and Kick — as well as using their skills a certain number of times. That double requirement can be quite a grind, but the Boost features newly added in this Remaster let you cut it down considerably. You’ll find these options in the settings menu, so it’s worth enabling them early rather than grinding raw and kicking yourself later.

I hope this guide has been helpful to you. There’s a lot here, but once you map out which prerequisites feed into which skills, the whole system starts to make sense — and watching those late-tier sacred skills finally unlock is worth the effort.
