Sultan’s Game: Secret Speedrun Ending Guide

This guide aims to provide a comprehensive walkthrough for achieving the “Collector” ending in Sultan’s Game by resolving all Sultan cards in 8 days or fewer.

 

Intro

There is a “secret” ending (The Collector) you get by resolving all the Sultan cards in 14 days or less.

It’s quite an easy task, and could be done in 8 days, but requires some planning, Fate’s Ledger buffs and a plenty of rewinds to deal with RNG.

Resolving Cards

The goal is to resolve all the Sultan cards as quickly as possible.

There are many ways of resolving cards. The main problem is resolving Gold Conquest. There are 2 fast ways of doing it:

  • Righteous Cause (Shama’s questline) (d3+3) – It could be started on day 3 but is 3 day long and locks 2 followers, which is not so good.
  • Purifying Fire – 20 Renown (d8+) – you can achieve 20 Renown on day 7 (then do “Seek help from the church”) and it takes 1 turn to complete with no characters involved. So this it what we wanna do.

So we need to boost Renown as much as possible.
Ways to boost Renown early in the run:

  • Random end-day events – +1 Renown per day (there is one that gives +2; check the guide linked below).
  • Random Bathhouse-triggered events – +1 Renown per event (+3 total).
  • Aziz/Inal end-day event >> “Spare them” – Renown +1.
  • Methink Inal >> Distract her – Renown +1.
  • Some other events (like Day of Charity) – usually not worth it.
Silver Conquest could be resolved with Hamar Brothers (day 2+), random conquest event (day 3+, requires troops), some other events, which also requires troops, and in White Belly event. Fatuna questline starts late in the run, but also could be used to break Silver Conquest.

Bloodshed, Carnality and Extravagance are quite easy to deal with. Use Gold Bloodshed on Vizier, Gold Carnality on Maggie and Gold Extravagance to upgrade your house (there are other options, but not so optimal in my opinion).

You can break Bronze/Stone cards by Methinking it and doing the corresponding events, but it has some limitations and requires Arzu participation, so is not ideal, considering there are many events that requires any follower or no one to break a card. So do the Methink way when there are no other options.
Note that using Carnality on the follower with no Passion will lead to losing a follower, but it could be used once on Lady Becky in cost of resentment instead. Arzuna got passion from the start.
First time methinking Extravagance triggers upgrading your house event (better to use gold one for this purpose). Next time you methink Extravagance (<=Bronze) it triggers additional event (Bronze Extravagance will cost you 10g to resolve).

Events to break cards
  • The Grand Game (day 1+) >> Bloodshed on nobles – not worth it, there are better ways.
  • The Grand Game (day 1+) >> Carnality on concubines – not worth it, there are better ways.
  • House of Delight (day 2+) >> Bloodshed (<=Silver) on prostitutes – could be used sometimes (but requires Arzu participation).
  • House of Delight (day 2+) >> Carnality (<=Silver) on prostitutes – OK (but requires Arzu participation). Triggers subsequent events (next day, if check passed) that lead to more ways of card resolvement:
    • Silver prostitute – end-day event:
      • I can help you kill your father – Righteous Cause >> Conquest (<=Gold), 3-day duration, requires troops.
      • I can take you as a concubine – Emergency Marriage >> Extravagance Silver for 30g (too expensive).
      • Let’s talk about something else – she upgrades to Gold and leaves House of Delight (becomes Sultan’s concubine).
    • Bronze prostitute – Sweet Whip >> Carnality Bronze (4g).
    • Stone prostitute – not quite interesting.
  • Project Investment (day 2+) >> Extravagance (<= Bronze) for 5g – spawn probably triggered by holding Extravagance or some amount of Gold.
  • Vanity, Vanity (day 3+) >> Bloodshed/Carnality (<=Silver) – Requires Arzu participation.
  • General Night Hunt (day 3+) >> Conquest (<=Bronze). Need to hold Conquest in hand for this event to spawn. No participation required.
  • Tapestry Corridor (day 3+) >> Extravagance (<=Silver) – Need to rent a room to foreign merchant and buy Heritage Tapestry from him (RNG). No participation required.
  • Wife’s Tea Party (day ?) >> Extravagance/Carnality (<=Silver) – Requires Arzu participation.
  • Visiting Bookstore triggers Beggar at the Bookstore Entrance (day 4+) – triggers Girl Returning the Book >> Carnality/Bloodshed Stone.
  • Inal end-day event (day 5+) – choosing “Investigate” triggers Private Investigation – triggers How Dare You >> Carnality/Bloodshed Silver.
  • Random Bathhouse-triggered events (day 2+) – every Bathhouse visit triggers one event next day:
    • Haunted Mansion >> Conquest/Bloodshed/Carnality up to Gold (follower); triggers extra events:
      • Evil Clues – triggers Night’s Shelter – captured heretic >> Carnality/Bloodshed (<=Silver) or follower (bronze) – Sacrificial ritual in 1 day (Carnality/Bloodshed).
      • Rest in Peace – Insight +1.
      • Unsolved murders – triggers The Real Culprit – noble follower (silver).
      • Divine Assistance.
    • House Occupied by Vagrants – Conquest/Extravagance (<=Bronze) – (5 gold + Vacant Mansion if Conquest).
    • Famous Hamar Brothers – Conquest (<=Silver) Renown +1.
    • Killing the Fierce Lion – Conquest/Extravagance (<=Bronze) Renown +1.
    • Pack of Vicious Dogs – Conquest/Extravagance (<=Bronze) Renown +1.
    • Trail of the Wolf King – triggers Battle at the Wolves’ Den in 1 day – Conquest (<=Bronze).
    • (avoid) Sever Crocodile – Little Crocodile mount.
    • (avoid) Divine Stallion – Stallion mount.
    • (avoid) Snake Valley (2d completion) – 5 gold, Snake Venom, Healing Herb.
  • Stats-based events (10+)
    • Renown-based events (day 2+):
      • (avoid) Day of Charity >> Bloodshed or Carnality (Stone).
      • Mysterious Assistance >> put Ancestral Armor (to get another one).
      • Methink Aziz (stone boxes) – could be used for extra gold later.
      • Methink Maggie – 5 gold or Sense oh Happiness (gold is better).
    • Notoriety-based events (day 2+):
      • Reprobates in Refuge >> Bloodshed (<=Silver) – could be troops.
      • Construct a Guesthouse >> Extravagance (Stone).
      • (avoid) Methink Maggie (arming the wife).
    • Influence-based events (day 2+):
      • Audience with the Vizier.
        • Absent Courtier – Influence +1.
          • … End the pain >> Bloodshed (<= Bronze).
          • … Spare him – noble follower (bronze).
            • Random Vizier event >> Bloodshed (Gold).
      • Methink Maggie – Horse (3 PHY, 3 CHA, 2 SUR) + Spear (2 COM).
    • Infamy-based events (day 2+):
      • Challenges Are Ever-Present >> Bloodshed (<=Silver).
      • Random Bloodshed event (could be multiple cards per event):

      • Inal auto-event (1: Omen + Mystique; 2: Intuition + Mystique).
    • IDK-based events (sum of stats above probably):
      • Entangled Task (day 2+) – Any card but Conquest (needs Arzu presence) + follower.
      • Random Conquest Event (day 3+)(need troops to complete):
        • Sin of Pride, Wealthy Troll >> Conquest Silver.
        • Caravan Raid, Bloody Oasis >> Conquest Bronze.
        • Mud-playing Tribe >> Conquest Stone.
      • Catching a Thief (day 3+) – triggers Alim end-day event – triggers One hand for Goods – triggers Alim end-day event – triggers Nest of Decay – triggers White Belly >> Conquest Silver.
  • Random end-day events – there are some events that lead to card resolvent, but we are generally interested in Renown + Gold here.

Troops for Conquest events could be obtained on day 2 (Reprobates in Refuge).

Fate’s Ledger boons

More boons = easier run.

Recommended boons:
  • Secret Twins – mandatory (ability to do 2x events that requires Arzu participation).
  • A Fortune+++ (20 gold at start) – enables Gold Extravagance on day 1.
  • Lady Becky (Noble, gives +1 gold when participating in The Grand Game) – for extra gold income.
  • Renown/Infamy/Notoriety/Influence/Insight cards (+10 when used) – to trigger events early.
  • Vacant Mansion – for constructing a Guesthouse on day 2.
  • Ancestral Armor+ (+5 PHY, +3 COM, +2 MAG) – to deal with some events.
  • Bath VIP card – to save 1 gold per day.
  • Bookshop Loyalty card – to save some gold.
  • Golden Maggie (she could be upgraded to gold ingame, but it cost some time) – to resolve Gold Carnality on day 1.
  • Lucky Amulet (reroll, +2 WIS) – to be less RNG-dependent.
  • Charisma Amulet (+3 CHA) – to be less RNG-dependent.
  • Regeneration Amulet (+2 PHY) – to be less RNG-dependent.
  • Any extra followers (Jenna, Malkina, Arzuna, Hassan) – to do as much events as possible.
  • Stats for Arzu and followers – to deal with some events easier.

Deactivate Card+ boons if any.

Run start and tips

Starting conditions:
  • Difficulty: Maggie.
  • Origin: Military (Ancestral Armor – upgradable in Fate’s Ledger).
  • Personal ability: Mind (+2 WIS).
  • Type: Conservative (3 slaves).
  • Wife: Wisdom (+1 WIS, +1 SOC).

Make a save at the start of every day.
Methink Gold Coin at the start of every day to spawn money-making event (save if it gives you a good one) – aim for 3-5 gold, could be save/rewind-scummed if needed.

Money-making events:
  • Tavern Brawl (COM) – good (cuz Ancestral Armor).
  • Selling Labor (PHY) – good (cuz Ancestral Armor and Regeneration Amulet).
  • Hunting Game (SUR) – bad.
  • Palace Affairs (SOC) – bad.
  • Dog Eat Dog (STE) – bad.
Default events:
  • The Grand Game – send Becky for extra gold every day.
  • Managing the Estate – send someone with WIS to get 5 gold/turn (can be rewinded if rolls are bad). Maggie or Hassan + Malkina are OK.
  • News in the Bathhouse – send anyone to trigger extra events.
  • Bookstore Business – send someone if available. Could be ignored.
  • The Fence (if unlocked in Fate’s Ledger) – ignore.
  • Read books if someone is not involved in events.

On day 1 draw ~3-10 cards. Look for Gold Extravagance and Gold Carnality. It’s good when there are many Bloodsheds/Conquests. Save if OK.

My run (8 days)

Every day:
  • Methink Gold Coin – do the money-making event.
  • Do default events.
Day 1
  • Draw up to 10 cards. Looking for Gold Extravagance and Gold Carnality.
  • Methink Gold Carnality – do Carnality at Home with Maggie.
  • Methink Gold Extravagance – do Major Construction (20g).
  • Methink Bloodshed – ignore Cruel Sacrifice (you will get Honorable Bloodshed event next day).
  • Methink Renown/Infamy/Notoriety/Influence/Insight cards.
  • Random end-day event – got Captured Heretic (would be better to get +Renown/gold here, probably).

Rolled for: OK Bathhouse event.

  • Draw all the remaining cards.
  • Methink Maggie – 5 gold.
  • Methink Aziz – I want yours >> Stone Lunchbox.
  • Reward >> Gold Coin.
  • Mysterious Assistance – Ancestral Armor (to get a copy of).
  • Managing the Estate – same as day 1 + put Vacant Room (gold).
  • Killing the Fierce Lion (-6) >> Conquest Bronze – Renown +1.
  • Honorable Bloodshed >> Bloodshed Bronze.
  • Entangled Task >> Bloodshed Silver – got a follower.
  • Till Death Do Us Meet >> Bloodshed Stone + Bloodshed Silver.
  • Construct a Guesthouse >> Extravagance Stone (10g).
  • Reprobates in Refuge >> Bloodshed Stone (could get troops here instead).
  • Challenges are Ever-Present (Bloodshed <=Silver) – ignored cuz got bad intel for a Silver challenger.
  • Audience with the Vizier – free intel.
  • Shadows of Assassination – ignored.
  • Random end-day event – Renown +1.
