Commandos: Origins – How to Skip the Kalypso Launcher and Intro Video

Like most of Kalypso’s releases, Commandos Origins has a launcher and some intro vids that can be completely skipped if needed. It’s a very easy fix for those wanting to quickly load into the game!

 

Recommended Method

Step 1: Skipping Kalypso Launcher

This is a very basic fix that requires little to no editing experience.

1: To begin, open Notepad by running it as an administrator.
2: Then go to file, open, and choose to open the hosts file under C:/Windows/System32/drivers/etc. 3: With that open, find the following line: # ::1 localhost.
4: With the cursor in that line, press enter and type in “127.0.0.1 launcher01.kalypsomedia.com” (no quotes)
5: Save the file and you’re good to go!

Step 2: Remove the intro video

For this one, follow these steps:

1: Navigate to the game’s main directory, it should be under C:/Program Files (x86)/Steam/steamapps/common/Commandos Origins/Commandos/Content/Movies.
2: Delete or rename the file “INTRO”
3: There you go!

The first time you run the game, it’ll play “HistoricalIntroMovie” along with “INTRO”, but there’s no need to remove or rename that. It only plays once per save.

Alternative Method

Another user suggested an alternative method for skipping the Kalypso launcher:

  1. Navigate to the folder where the Kalypso launcher executable resides, typically located at C:/Program Files (x86)/Steam/steamapps/common/Commandos Origins/Commandos/Binaries/Win64/KalypsoLauncher.
  2. Rename the folder to KalypsoLauncher.bak.
  3. The game will then launch directly to the main menu.
