Lunacid – Tears of the Moon: Book Text

This is just a plain text transcription I made of all the books in the library of Lyria, as well as the books in the Prisons of Scawl.

Books in Castle Lyria

These are all the books in the Lyria castle library. The titles in bold are just titles I made up. I aimed to preserve all of Kira’s writing here including any weird capitalization, punctuation, spacing, etc.

Scawl and the Moonlight Sword
Though the Lyrian forces were victorious in defeating and imprisoning the dark magician, it resulted in heavy casualties and the loss of the Great Moonlight Sword.

Broken into 5 pieces, many were lost. One intentionally was embedded into Scawl’s corpse. Should he rise again, his powers should be greatly reduced.

Fall of a Dark Kingdom
What’s more the brief kingdom of Scawl was beset with numerous fell creatures, no doubt due to the meddling of dark magic by the King.

And as it was sieged, the very land fell away into the poison sea. Only the keep itself was held by Scawl’s dark magics.

My Search for the Golden Wizards, Pt. 1
It was, by my account, the first age when once might brave the miasma and soar beyond it. I had read of a caste of wizards who all attempted this venture in seeking to establish a kingdom bathed in sunlight.

I had expected them to return someday. But they did not.

I made so many attempts to reach them. But all ended in failure and me narrowly avoiding death.
Desperately I made the periscope.

My Search for the Golden Wizards, Pt. 2
It did reach the sky. But only briefly as the miasma ate away at its metallic coating. I saw what I believe to be the kingdom of the sky. It was beautiful. But I saw no life upon it.

Hollow floating wizard spires lazily hung in the air. I wanted so badly to see any sign of life. But nothing, and then only darkness as my mechanism broke from the strain.

Maybe they do live up there or maybe they all died.

Architecture of Castle Lyria
The aqueduct was once a peaceful extension of this library. But as the wards began to fall, it became unsafe.

The majestic purified water which once swam serpentine throughout the kingdom has been lost. That which remains comes now only at the song of the Harp of Harmony.

The Harp itself is locked within, alas.

Books in the Prisons of Scawl

BOOK 1
For ages I’ve wandered my own labyrinthine kingdom.

For I am the last sane one allowed to wander it, so I must be its ruler.

Our stock is strange, it seems this prison was once a chamber for a great magician of sorts.

Our chief treasure, a simple stone coffin.

During my dozing rest I sometimes hear beckoning coming from that coffin.

A sense of dread overwhelms me as I approach it.

BOOK 2
Every guest that ventures in escapes in agony at my visage.

Am I so abhorrent?

My mother was a queen, my father a spared sacrifice.

I may have found a solution to my beastly burden.

A magic scepter of old, which strange magics can split and duplicate its target.

I will set it upon myself, and split myself into several.

As I do, my selves will each be smaller.

And perhaps with enough reduction I will become less unsightly.

BOOK 3
Woe! I.. I lose myself, as I knew. Each me only part.

Lost will, lost thought,

loses sane.

Shadows come.

I am two, but I am alone.

Worst. My eyes.

I scare myself.

Too alike. Too beastly.
