I put together this walkthrough so you can find every ending in London: Echoes of the Past and walk away with the full achievement list in one pass. If you’re stuck on a choice that keeps landing you in a dead end, or you just want a clean path to each of the three good finales, everything you need is laid out below.
Before you dive in, one honest note from my own playthrough: this is a short visual novel, and it genuinely rewards you for going in blind first. Each choice can uncover the truth or finish you off, and a lot of the satisfaction comes from working out the right move on your own. So I’d suggest running the mission once without me hovering over your shoulder. If a deduction trips you up, come back here — that’s exactly why I wrote this.
I’ve kept things as spoiler-light as I can, which means I list the choices without spelling out what happens after them. If you want the emotional beats to hit, read only as far as you need.
Story Progression Achievements
These are the easy ones. Simply playing through the story hands them to you — no special routing, no deduction gymnastics, no save management required. If you’re chasing 100%, just finish a route and they’ll be sitting in your list.
All Bad Endings
Here’s the part that surprised me most: the bad endings don’t give achievements, and there are no CGs tied to them. But they’re genuinely fun to explore, and the game quietly does you a favor — after any bad ending, it drops you right back at the choice options. That means you never need to create a save just to collect a bad end. I’d honestly recommend grabbing a couple on purpose, because some of the punchlines land harder than the “good” paths.
Every bad ending starts from the same early decision, so the list below builds on itself. The first choice branches you hard, so watch your step at the top.
Bad Ending 1 — “Beyond the Story”
- Choose “Do not take the letter”
That single call takes you straight there.
Bad Ending 2 — “The Cost of Hubris”
- Choose “Take the letter”
- Choose “Investigate now”
Bad Ending 3 — “The Deafening Detective”
- Choose “Take the letter”
- Choose “Investigate tomorrow”
- Choose “An unremarkable metal box”
Bad Ending 4 — “The Missing Piece”
- Choose “Take the letter”
- Choose “Investigate tomorrow”
- Choose “A family photograph”
- Choose “Abandon the investigation”
Bad Ending 5 — “Lost in the Crowd”
- Choose “Take the letter”
- Choose “Investigate tomorrow”
- Choose “A family photograph”
- Choose “Continue the investigation”
- Choose “Pretend to be strangers and walk away”
Playing it cautious is what sinks you here.
The last four bad endings share a long opening stretch and only diverge once you get into the confrontation. This is where I’d create a save file the moment you hit the “Confront her” branch — the game will branch heavily from there, and having that save ready keeps you from replaying the early deduction every time. From that save point, the deduction choices you pick along the way don’t matter for any of the bad ends, so you can click through them freely.
Those neutral-in-the-bad-end choices are: “Protect Queenie” or “Test Queenie”; “It’s true” or “It’s false”; “They are accomplices” or “Xin Rui is not fully aware”; “Resentment and Hostility” or “Neutral and Harmless”; “Is she in danger?” or “She has changed”; and finally “She doesn’t like British food”, “Perhaps she has her reasons”, or “She is no innocent”. None of these steer the bad end in any direction, so don’t overthink them.
Bad Ending 6 — “The Cost of Hesitation”
- Work through the “Confront her” branch from your save
- Choose “Do not kill him rashly”
Bad Ending 7 — “The Reckless Lone Ranger”
- Work through the “Confront her” branch from your save
- Choose “Fire immediately”
- Choose “Pursue Black Tiger upstairs”
Bad Ending 8 — “A Fatal Misjudgment”
- Work through the “Confront her” branch from your save
- Choose “Fire immediately”
- Choose “Check the ground floor first”
- Choose “Force her to disarm”
Bad Ending 9 — “Ashes to Ashes”
- Work through the “Confront her” branch from your save
- Choose “Fire immediately”
- Choose “Check the ground floor first”
- Choose “Lower your weapon”
- Choose “Shoot Black Tiger”
That’s the last of them. Once you’ve seen all nine, you’ve officially covered every way to fail this mission — and that’s worth knowing, because the game quietly marks how many you’ve found.
Xin Rui Romance Ending
Here’s where the deduction answers start to matter. The three good endings all funnel through the same confrontation, but the earlier reasoning determines which one you unlock. So please — create a save file before you answer the deduction questions. I can’t stress that enough, because this is the point where a wrong click sends you back to replay the whole thing, and I’ve been there.
For Xin Rui’s route, make these choices:
- Choose “Take the letter”
- Choose “Investigate tomorrow”
- Choose “A family photograph”
- Choose “Continue the investigation”
- Choose “Confront her”
Now the deduction sequence — the part that decides everything:
- Choose to “Test Queenie”
- Choose “It’s true”
- Choose “Xin Rui is not fully aware”
- Choose “Neutral and Harmless”
- Choose “She has changed”
- Choose “She is no innocent”
That’s the end of the deduction choices, and those answers should land you on Xin Rui’s ending. From there:
- Choose “Fire immediately”
- Choose “Check the ground floor first”
- Choose “Lower your weapon”
- Choose “Persuade Xin Rui”
Completing the route unlocks its achievement. One thing worth flagging: at the very end, the game offers to show you the story from Xin Rui’s perspective. There’s no achievement tied to viewing it, but there is a new CG tucked inside — so if you’re collecting art, don’t skip past that prompt like I almost did.
Queenie’s Romance Ending
Same drill as before, different answers. Use your save from before the deduction choices — you’ll want to branch from there rather than replay the opening. Queenie’s route mirrors Xin Rui’s on the big choices but diverges hard on the reasoning.
Follow this path:
- Choose “Take the letter”
- Choose “Investigate tomorrow”
- Choose “A family photograph”
- Choose “Continue the investigation”
- Choose “Confront her”
Then the deduction sequence:
- Choose to “Protect Queenie”
- Choose “It’s false”
- Choose “They are accomplices”
- Choose “Resentment and Hostility”
- Choose “Is she in danger?”
- Choose “Perhaps she has her reasons”
Those answers should put you on Queenie’s ending. Wrap it up with:
- Choose “Fire immediately”
- Choose “Check the ground floor first”
- Choose “Lower your weapon”
- Choose “Persuade Xin Rui”
You’ll unlock the route achievement at the end. Just like Xin Rui’s path, the game asks afterward whether you want to replay from Queenie’s perspective — no achievement for it, but there’s a fresh CG waiting inside, so it’s worth a look.
The March On Ending
The independent ending is the trickiest to land because it mixes pieces from both romance routes. You still start from your pre-deduction save, and this time the answers pull you down a third path entirely.
Start the same way:
- Choose “Take the letter”
- Choose “Investigate tomorrow”
- Choose “A family photograph”
- Choose “Continue the investigation”
- Choose “Confront her”
Then the deduction sequence that sets up The March On:
- Choose to “Protect Queenie”
- Choose “It’s false”
- Choose “Xin Rui is not fully aware”
- Choose “Neutral and Harmless”
- Choose “She has changed”
- Choose “Perhaps she has her reasons”
Finish the route with the same closing beats as always:
- Choose “Fire immediately”
- Choose “Check the ground floor first”
- Choose “Lower your weapon”
- Choose “Persuade Xin Rui”
This unlocks its achievement set when the route ends. And once again, the game offers a side story after the credits — no achievement for viewing it, but there are new CGs inside, so if you’re a completionist on the art front, give it a look.
A Few Final Notes
Between the paths above, you should be set to solve every mystery and collect every achievement this story has to offer. There may be small variations within the deduction choices that still lead to one of the three endings, but the combinations I’ve listed are confirmed to land you on their respective finales — so if you’re routing for achievements, stick to these and you won’t waste a run.
If this helped you untangle the case, drop a comment or a like — it goes a long way. Happy solving, fellow detectives.
