Help on figuring out what you should do next {with minimal spoilers}
At Any Time, Keep This in Mind
Scan everything. See a new Emuurom? Scan it. See a duplicate of an Emuurom? Scan that too. The walls? Yup. Those stones that probably just have lore on them? They’re more important than that, and yes. Save points? Flowers? Weird background stuff? SCAN IT
Speaking of those stones, read them carefully. There are no useless stones, there are only stones you don’t know how to use yet. This goes for most other things as well.
You can access your scanned Emuurom and your map at nearly any time you have your scanner, refer back to both often.
Going astray will uncover more than bee-lining for the goal, including but not limited to important stuff for the goal itself. This is a game that thrives on “Hey, that’s weird. What’s up with that?” and “Wait a second, let me re-read that…” and “Actually, I have no idea what to do with this, should I be doing this right now?” and “Oh, shoot, I can’t believe I missed that…”
Emuurom is a video game. Emuurom is not trying to make you think this is untrue. ‘Reset Game’ is on the pause menu for a reason. Think of what it does as the ‘restart’ counterpart to saving and quitting. Spoilered as you get told something similar in-game, but with less detail: Emuurom return ‘home’ when you reset the game. What this ‘home’ is varies on the Emuurom, but is based on when you last saved.

You are not prevented from going backwards, though you may need to reset some expectations, or progress forward.
